Our Story
Hurley & Associates was founded in 1988 in Charleston, MO., with humble, grassroots beginnings. Ida Hurley, the founder, had a simple mission: to help people. Her primary focus was on serving farmers and ranchers, helping them manage the risks associated with their crops, particularly in terms of price and profitability.
In the 1990s, Ida’s sons, David and Trent Hurley, joined the company. In 2008, Trent became CEO and David assumed the role of President. Although Dennis Hurley is now retired, he continues to work closely with his sons as a member of the Board of Directors.
“Our real education happened at the kitchen table,” says David Hurley. “We were always treated as part of the business, which helped us understand and embrace our mission.”
Ida Hurley had a deep-rooted commitment to sustaining farm families in agriculture—a passion that not only endured but was passed down to the next generation.
In the 2000s, Hurley & Associates expanded into the Midwest, establishing offices in South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, and Nebraska.
“Our clients aren’t necessarily the biggest or the smallest producers,” explains Trent. “They are the ones who recognize the risks involved in farming and want to address them. We choose to serve those who understand their commodity risks, offering services tailored to both large and small operations.”
At Hurley & Associates, our consultants partner with farm families to help build a lasting legacy. Our story began with Ida, a pioneer in the industry who persevered through challenging times to uphold our mission—a mission that continues to this day: to help our clients achieve economic stability while preserving the dignity and value of the family farm.

Our History
1976
Ida worked in Charleston at a Grain Elevator where she realized that farmers needed the education and understanding of the tools available.

Ida & Dennis Hurley married
1988
Hurley & Associates was established

Charleston, MO office established
1991
David Hurley becomes President of Hurley & Associates Inc.
1991
Today’s HA software is developed.
1994
Caruthersville, MO office established
1994
Charleston outgrows its original office and moves to Marshall Street where its Corporate office still exists today.
1994
Dennis Hurley joins Hurley & Associates as CFO.
1997
Trent Hurley joined the company
1999
Wheaton, MN office established and moved to Glenwood, MN in 2023
2000
2000 Britton, SD office established. Marshalltown, IA office established and moved to Eldora, IA in 2006 and later to Grundy Center, IA in 2017.

Brookings, SD office established

2007
Peggy Raisanen becomes first Chief Communications Officer.
